About Maddie

Maddie Orton is an Emmy-winning on-camera journalist, documentarian, producer, and video/podcast editor who got her start at PBS.  She is a frequent Senior Producer for Alongi Media, having had the pleasure of creating video for The U.S. Navy Memorial's Lone Sailor Awards, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, The Carrell Clinic Foundation, and The Global Business Travel Association, among others.

A life-long theater nerd, Maddie produces, edits, and reports for the state-wide nonprofit, Discover Jersey Arts. Her podcast episodes and video packages include interviews with artistic heavy-hitters like Emmy winner Jane LynchHamilton's Okieriete Onaodowan and Renée Elise Goldsberry, Broadway's Norm Lewis, SNL's Ana Gasteyer, and the one and only Gloria Gaynor

 

Maddie spent nearly 9 years at WNET (New York City and New Jersey's PBS network) where she worked as a Correspondent/Producer/Shooter/Editor for several programs including Channel Thirteen's nightly current affairs program, MetroFocus, NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams (now NJ Spotlight News), SciTech Now, WLIW Arts Beat, Author Imprint, Take on Fake, The ALL ARTS Vaultand her own show, The Arts Project with Maddie Orton. As a multimedia journalist, Maddie frequently stepped into various roles as needed, and prides herself on being known as a team player who gets the job done.

PBS is also where Maddie discovered her love for documentary work. In 2017, she completed her first feature-length documentary, I Can’t… I Have Rehearsal, which received a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award. She later created an episode for the ALL ARTS docu-series In Motion, and helped produce Treasures of New York: MoMA.

Maddie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University (RU RAH RAH!) where she recently co-founded the Cabaret Theatre Alumni Association. In 2025, Maddie led the charge to organize a 50th anniversary fundraiser and reunion, for which she created several documentary shorts. Maddie and her husband, Dan, are based in Brooklyn, New York, and are proud parents to two adorable and hilarious kids.
