ABOUT MADDIE

Maddie Orton is an Emmy-winning one-man-band journalist,  documentary filmmaker, producer, and video editor.  She is a frequent producer for Alongi Media, most recently completing work on The U.S. Navy Memorial's 2021 Lone Sailor Awards honoring TV legend Drew Carey. She also works as a video correspondent and podcast host for the state-wide nonprofit, Discover Jersey Arts.

Maddie recently finished producing Season 2 of the WNET (PBS) web-series,
Take on Fake. Previously, she worked at the network as a Producer/Correspondent for nearly 8 years. Maddie covered stories ranging from city and state policy, to medical break-throughs and the arts, for WNET's nightly current affairs program, MetroFocus.  She also worked as a correspondent for NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams, a contributor to SciTech Now and WLIW Arts Beat, and host of The Arts Project with Maddie Orton, the Author Imprint series podcast, and The ALL ARTS Vault.

In 2017, Maddie completed her first documentary, I Can’t… I Have Rehearsal, which received a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award.  She's since created an episode for the ALL ARTS docu-series In Motion, and was a producer on Treasures of New York: MoMA.

Before working in television, Maddie’s focus was arts advocacy—galvanizing grassroots support for arts funding and education.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University (RU RAH RAH!) and in her spare time works to help foster dogs find their fur-ever homes.  Maddie and her husband, Dan, are proud parents to son Charlie.
